Opening Reception Friday, October 3, 2014, 7 – 9pm
GOOD EYE GALLERY is thrilled to team up with House of Honey for the debut of Lisa Golightly’s new series of paintings.
“This series of paintings continues my exploration of memories and their transient quality. Using found photos and film these paintings are both anonymous in nature but also very personal. I am fascinated by how snapshots shape, influence, change and even create memory. With these images as a starting point, I manipulate and edit them, then transfer the image to the canvas where the paint shifts it even further from the source material. This process mirrors the evolution of memory that we often continue to rewrite and expand”
Golightly is an artist living in Portland, Oregon. With a BFA in art, her initial focus was photography. Her work revolves around memory and the collective memory we share through snapshots. She is also interested in how our memories and the making of memories have changed with the advent of photography.
Setting the stage for Good Eye Gallery’s pop up is designer Tamara Honey’s South Pasadena showroom. Known for her playful new/vintage mix of layered color, pattern and texture, House of Honey is the perfect backdrop for Golightly’s dreamy paintings and abstract works.
Please join us for the opening and meet Lisa Golightly on Friday, October 3, 2014 7-9pm.
